If you're the type of person who needs to have everything in the right place, or cannot stay organised while trying to manage a range of tasks. From scheduling your content, managing your work, staying on top of your habits, or sticking to your routines etc. This guide should give you a few great resources to stay on top of your lifestyle and goals, while staying consistant and keeping stress levels to a minimum.

Scheduling / Calendar

Notion:

So notion is an all in one sort of app, it can be setup within a few minutes by downloading already made and ready to use templates to help keep you organised in a range of manners.

Now Notion can be a productivity hack, but it can also lead you to spend HOURS upon HOURS creating the perfect system. Be very mindful of this fact, there are 6 hour youtube videos on how to setup your notion and if you dont watch yourself, you might just end up falling further down that rabbit hole than is good for you. I'd suggest starting out with some premade templates, they are honestly amazing, thats all I use. The customisation is cool but not necessary.

Pricing:

Notions capabilities:

  • To-Do Lists

  • Content calendars

  • Work calendars

  • Habit Trackers

  • Reading Lists

  • Weekly planners

  • Budget Trackers

  • Travel Planners

Etc, Etc. It has it all!

Organisation

To stay organised, you can just use the above mentioned software (Notion), but I personally find having some other areas where I keep my thoughts, and ideas a great way to seperate the functions and have a more cohesive productivity routine.

Apple Notes:

You probably all know about apple notes already, but since majoirty of people have an Iphone. The ease of use when it comes to the in built notes app is superior to all in my opinion. plus there are so many functions that have been added and it keeps getting quality of life improvements all the time. I'd recommend watching a video about all the features it has, to really get a good grasp on the ways you can use it

Pricing:

Free if you've already got an iPhone, or Thousands of dollars if you need to buy one :')

Sticky Notes:

Good old sticky notes, the post-it company has been around for a very long time and there's a reason why. Their products are just that good. If you check their website out, you will be pleasantly suprised as they have a MASSIVE range of products. I personally use sticky notes as reminders on my monitor, and to organise plot points in the novel i'm currently writing.

Pricing: A couple dollars for some of their basic products, but they have some fancy stuff that's a little pricy if that floats your boat.

OneNote:

I first discovered OneNote in school, but for years after I left school I continued to use it. I find the features in OneNote to be alot better than word and the fact that you can log in to OneNote on any device and instantly access all of your projects and documents is a life saver. Particularly the auto save feature has come in handy a plethora of times.

Pricing:

Free for most features but if you want to get that little bit extra, microsoft has a subscription based model where you can get access to all of their apps for a pretty decent price.

Mental Clarity / Mental Health

Commonplace Book:

Commonplace books have been around for a very long time, in fact they were the first blank book that was popularized for the common man. They are my new obsession and I need to share this with you. I plan to make a detailed YouTube video about how to setup a commonplace book and why you should have one very soon. So head to my YouTube channel and turn on post notifications if you want to be updated when it's out.

A commonplace book is a book simular to a journal but instead of having daily entries, you create an Index at the start of book, filled with the topics you most often engage with. For instance, some of the titles in my Index are Writing, Productivity, Weather, Poetry, Collaboration, Health, Story Ideas etc.

After you've added your interest into your commonplace book, whenever you hear, read, see or think of something related to those topics, you go to their designated page and write them down. I find it to be the best way to organise all of your favourite ideas, and whenever you get a minute to spare, instead of scrolling on social media, you try to memorise or get inspiration from the ideas you write in the book.

Pricing: You can buy a cheap notebook for less that $5 but as a comonplace book is something you'll probably use for years before replacing, I'd suggest getting a nice hardcover lined journal. Molskin has some amazing quality journals if you're willing to pay the premium for their products.

Journal:

Journals are being slept on by so many people nowadays. I genuinely believe everyone in the world would benefit from keeping a journal, and more specifically a daily journal. Personally, I werite in my journal every night before going to bed, and I find it gives me immense clarity and gratitude for the days that pass. It helps to solidify important memories and it give me a resource that I can look back at years down the line.

In my journal I like to keep the front page for my yearly goals, the second page for imporant reminders I will use through out the year and the third page for tracking certain habits and my mood. I then use the back of the book to track the books I'm reading that year and give them a personal review.

The content I put in the day to day part of my journal follows a little bit of structure but I don't always stick to it, as somethings I find it's best tio just let your heart and mind vomit out onto the page (The amount of run on sentences I write in my journal is diabolical). However the structure I usually use is the following:

  • An event that happened that day

  • A win I had

  • A loss or something I want to improve upon

  • Placing the day into the larger context of my life (why does this day relate to my goals, identity, lived experience, etc)

Pricing: The same as a commonplace book :)
