About Me.

Intro:

Hi, my names Harrison O'Farrell, and I have been a lover of writing and the English language since I was 15 years of age. I live in QLD Australia but have had a life filled with moving, making new friends, then moving again. While this has brought its own share of challenges, it has also helped to build resolve. I have always been a bit Unorthodoxical when it comes to my beliefs and way of moving through the world, I believe this has been the pillar that holds up what I am today and who I want to be in the future. My dream is to be author, one that can support themselves through their creations.

Why I started writing:​

I first started writing as a way to cope with the environment I was in, I would spend my classes in school writing about different emotions instead of doing my work. Through my writings I was able to formulate and organise my belief systems, this helped me gain perspective, and thus a little solace for my situation. I thought to myself, if I can't change my environment, then I must change how I perceive my environment. Probably the most important lesson I have ever learnt.  Writing for myself was how it all started, but I soon realised if I gain something from what I write, then maybe others will too. That lead me to building a following on social media and along the way I have received thousands of messages from people struggling as I once was. Messages containing hope.

What I love to write about / consume:​

Fantasy stories have always been my favourite media to consume, whether that be through videogames like Skyrim and Baulders Gate 3, movies like The Hobbit and Harry Potter, or books like The mist born trilogy and the Red Rising series. While I love love love fantasy, I also really enjoy the classics, like Charles Dickens, George Orwell and Jane Austen. On the non fiction side, authors like Ryan Holiday, Miyamoto Musashi and James Clear come to mind.

My writing style is a culmination of the feelings of adventure best shown from the fantasy genre, the hopeless romantic and old English from the classics, and personal growth, philosophy and self exploration best experienced through the ideas found in the above mentioned authors.

I want to create stories that not only contain enjoyment and reprieve but also teach valuable lessons about self discovery, emotional fortitude and awareness. If you've read this far, thank you. I really hope you can discover a little more about yourself through what I create.
